Who Are We?
We are Mell and Amanda! Two curly seesters living in Toronto, with a passion for teaching others how to embrace their natural hair texture.
As a licensed hairstylist, Mell loves to share her best hair tips every Texture Thursday on YouTube in partnership with Amanda.
We love storyboarding and researching new and exciting video ideas, turning on the camera and sitting down to create educational + entertaining videos together!
Manes by Mell's
History
Manes by Mell was created back in April of 2018 by sisters Mell and Amanda Guido. Together, Mell and Amanda have created an online community of over 1 million people with curly/textured hair to come together and learn more about their hair.
Ultimately, Manes by Mell was created as an outlet for both sisters to share their passions for helping others learn to embrace their curls and most importantly have a good laugh.

Mell Guido, the main face of the channel is a curly hair specialist, stylist, educator and influencer with a passion for teaching about hair care and making people laugh.
Amanda is the editor, manager, and cameo artist that makes the casual appearance for the audience to relate to even more hair as well as the sisterly love they share.

I’m Mell, you can consider me Your Mane Girl. I’m a curly hair expert sharing my knowledge about hair care and beauty.
My pages are an outlet for people to have a laugh, learn something new, and feel connected to the real me!
Growing up with curls myself, I learned to embrace the hair I have and to not just love it, but nurture it.
Now, I’m a curl expert and a hair care professional with a passion to share my knowledge about curls outside the salon to people around the world on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube through entertaining education all while having fun with it!
Online, I am known as “Manes by Mell,” where I have a very large social media reach with followers who are just as passionate about embracing natural curly hair as I am.

My name is Amanda Guido, known online as Manes by Mell’s ‘seester’. Growing up I always had a passion for being creative with video and photography.
But beyond that, as someone with naturally curly, or as I always called it, frizzy hair, I struggled to care for my hair and was very insecure about it, to the point where I did everything I could to reverse the curl. Now I work as a content creator and digital marketing specialist and I work with my natural curls too!
Together, my “seester” Mell and I work in partnership to create content for ‘Manes by Mell’. Together, we use our very different skill sets online to help others, like myself, learn to care for and embrace their natural hair.
Growing up I always had a passion for being creative with video and photography. I also always struggled with my self-esteem and frizzy hair, to the point where I did everything I could to reverse the curl. Now I work as a content creator to help others, like myself, learn to care for and embrace their natural hair.
