What is in it and what is this used for?
- Verb’s proprietary SunflowerCurl™ Complex which uses the whole sunflower plant from root to tip including the petals/stem/roots. Sunflower seed extract contains fatty acids that deeply nourish and increase hair manageability while providing natural UV protection to prevent color fading
- Sunflower oil locks in the water you need into your hair, and keeps it there- making hair less frizzy, shinier, more hydrated. Also great for the scalp and encouraging healthy hair growth with time.
- Polyquaternium-10 is a cationic film former that is water-soluble and ensures the hair shaft is smooth and hydrated, making it more resistant to humidity.
- Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and Carnosine in this product is small enough to penetrate strands without creating buildup or “protein-overload”. This helps to fortify and strengthen curly hair and make it more resilient, less prone to breakage or damage in styling.
- Grapefruit oil is used to add a natural scent to the formulation and to the hair without the use of fragrance, and is used for the purpose of being a fragrance replacement.
When and how often should it be used?
- Use it as the second step in your styling routine when following the Prep, Style, Finish Method.
- Or, this unique foaming gel can be used all on its own, perfect for the simple curly with healthy hair that is low-maintenance with their curl routine. It will give fabulous results air dried or diffused
Why I (Mell) Like It:
- Consider me biased, but I put all my brains and curls into this product as I helped co-create it with the product development team at Verb.
- This unique product is what you would get if your gel could foam, so it did it.
- The benefit in the “foaming” aspect of the gel (due to the dispenser) is that it helps with spreadability since it has a larger volume.
- It allows you to spread the product evenly in your hair. It may feel lighter and more aerated in your hands since it is a foam. It was tested for two benefits – smoothness/softness and frizz control.
- Curl Foaming Gel shows an 85% reduction in combing force when compared to the Control (hair without any product). Essentially this means that the product makes the hair easier to brush through, detangles the hair, and makes it smoother and softer for scrunching, twist outs, etc.
- It was also found to reduce frizz by 84% for up to 72-hours at high humidity.
- Personally, I vetted dozens of samples before approving the final formula and have found it to work beautifully through all seasons and for many consecutive wash days. It is my baby <3

There is no perfume fragrance added to this product, but grapefruit oil is used to add a natural scent to the formulation. Totally gender-neutral, and not overpowering!
How-To (tips from a pro):
There are 2 ways you can use this unique product.
- The first is distributing it through your hair; Apply 2-4 pumps per section and brush it through for an even application and to define your curls, use my Ribbon Curls Technique or finger-coil for extra curl definition and hold.
- The second way to apply it is by gently glazing it over your wet, defined curls to gove hold an scrunch. Air dry or diffuse and also re-use to refresh your curls throughout the week as needed by applying a small amount on damp hair.
