Use this guide for product recommendations to treat YOUR type of frizz
(damage, dry, unstyled, and/or wet frizz)
This is not to shame frizz. We love a little frizz, for the volume, for the vibes, for the curls they are capable of creating! But frizz, whether viewed as a friend or foe, needs to be managed for the sake of your hair’s health. You don’t want me to tell you what happens when you leave your frizz untreated…. (Split ends, breakage, increased tangles, short-lived styles…)
These are the product recommendations I have to treat each type of hair frizz.
If you’re dealing with gummy, fluffy, or crispy hair, you may be experiencing damage frizz. This often results from heat styling, coloring, bleaching, and other chemical practices.
The damage is typically irreversible but can be managed with protein treatments and bond-repairing products.
If your hair looks frazzled, the curls lack definition, it’s littered with flyaways, they’re so dull they don’t reflect any shine, it feels rough and brittle to the touch – the hair’s extremely DRY. Healing with hydration can take a little bit of time, but focusing on humectants and utilizing steam can help deliver that hydration where you need it to be.
Wet frizz is frustrating, and can seem futile when it feels like non of your products are working… and that right there is a tell-all sign that it’s time to clarify. Use a deep cleansing shampoo with chelators to help extract all buildup on your hair, and then you’ll be set up for success to use products listed in the other categories.

You have to style your hair if you want to help mitigate frizz! I like to say that the bare minimum is a leave-in conditioner, to help with the moisture and prevent DRY & DAMAGED frizz from occurring. Using styling brushes is a great way to distribute products and define curls, but don’t sleep on the stylers listed above!
