After rinsing your conditioner in the shower, put your soaking hair in a claw clip. Take this time to do other tasks like skincare, body moisturizer, or makeup. Let your hair sit wet in the clip for 15 to 45 minutes (avoid going too long). Keep a microfiber towel around your neck to catch any drippage.
Once you’re ready to style, grab a lightweight leave-in conditioner, preferably in a spray form for easy distribution. Apply it to your damp hair and brush through for better product absorption.
If you have healthy hair and dryness isn’t a concern, skip the creams and go straight to foam, gel, or mousse. Choose products that suit your hair texture and provide the desired hold.
Section your hair into two parts, clipping away the top horseshoe section. Apply your chosen curl definers, ensuring even distribution with the ribbon curl technique for efficiency.
Work through your hair in vertical sections, sandwiching the hair between your hand and the brush to create a ribbon effect. Continue with diagonal sections for the top layers, alternating from left to right for ease.
Scrunch in a mousse to enhance hold and definition. To reduce excess moisture, gently scrunch your hair with a damp microfiber towel.
Speed up drying time by using a diffuser. Hover around your roots for a few minutes while actively circulating the dryer, then focus on the mids and ends. Use high temperature and speed settings for maximum efficiency, and play some upbeat music to keep you moving.
Once your curls have set, fluff the roots by blowing cool air into them in circular motions. This helps to dry the scalp and enhance volume.
